Prodigal Patriot: First Commandment and Amendment

The first commandment paraphrased, is that “you may have no other gods before I AM”

Trump’s position is that “I AM” saved his life a few weeks ago.

Harris has stated no religious position at all to my knowledge.

The first amendment to the US Constitution states: Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

Trump’s position holds that we are free to speak. He associates with advocates of free speech and he has proposed no limitations on religion, speech, press, assembly, or anything in this amendment.

Harris espouses limitations on “hate speech”, “misinformation”, “malinformation”, and other speech that effectively goes against her personal opinions. She believes that a parent’s speech is limited when it comes to the transitioning of a minor child, abortions granted to a minor child, or any speech that does not comport with the opinions of public school teachers. She perceives the government as an institution of elites that needs to take care of the “lesser thans” for whom they care. She looks down on the individual who wants to decide for him or herself. The collective is all that matters and that ideology is not represented in the first amendment.

As for peaceful assembly, she participated in bailing out rioters who were using a tragic death as an excuse to destroy cities all across the US. She encouraged others to help rioters disrupt business and create unsafe conditions for everyone else. Where was our right to peaceful assembly during those riots? The pandemic? A Harris presidency would greatly imperil this particular freedom for all of us. Voter beware.
